LPGA Makes History: 17 Different Champions Open 2025 Season

July 1, 2025 by markmusicrecordshop

Close-up of the LPGA Tour logo in white on a black tee box marker, showing a silhouette of a female golfer mid-swing with the letters "LPGA" beside it.

The LPGA Tour parity storyline is dominating headlines in 2025, as the season opened with an unprecedented 17 different winners in the first 17 events. This remarkable level of diversity marks the first time in the LPGA’s 75-year history that no player has repeated as champion through this many tournaments.

A few standout stats help illustrate the scope of this achievement:

  • The 17 winners represent eight different countries, showcasing the global depth of talent.
  • Six of the 17 champions were first-time LPGA winners.
  • This new record surpasses previous season-opening streaks of 15 different winners, set in both 2017 and 1991.

While the absence of a dominant player—such as Nelly Korda, who had already achieved six victories by this point in 2024—might suggest a lack of star power, insiders view it differently. The streak is viewed as a testament to the depth, parity, and competitiveness across the tour.

Rather than one name repeatedly topping the leaderboard, fans are witnessing a dynamic mix of talent rising to the occasion each week. As the season progresses, the big question remains: Who will be the first to win twice?

The 2025 LPGA Tour continues to deliver surprises, and this run of unique winners is one of the most compelling storylines in recent memory.

Padraig Harrington Wins Second U.S. Senior Open Title at The Broadmoor

June 30, 2025 by markmusicrecordshop

Padraig Harrington holds the U.S. Senior Open trophy after winning the 2025 championship at The Broadmoor

Padraig Harrington captured his second U.S. Senior Open title at the 2025 championship held at The Broadmoor, edging out Stewart Cink by a single stroke after a closely contested final round.

Harrington posted a 3-under 67 on Sunday to finish the tournament at 11-under 269. Cink, playing alongside Harrington in the final pairing for the fourth straight day, carded a 68 to finish just behind at 10-under 270.

A decisive moment came on the 18th hole when Harrington hit a precise approach shot, applying pressure on Cink, who found himself in a less favorable lie. That closing sequence proved enough to seal the victory and reinforce Harrington’s place as one of the standout competitors on the PGA TOUR Champions.

This marks Harrington’s second U.S. Senior Open title, his first coming in 2022. The victory at The Broadmoor adds another chapter to his distinguished legacy in senior golf.

The PGA Tour weekly recap is headlined by 20-year-old Aldrich Potgieter, who secured his first PGA Tour victory dramatically at the 2026 Rocket Classic. Potgieter triumphed in a 5-hole playoff after draining a long birdie putt on the final hole. The win comes with a share of the tournament’s $9.6 million purse and sets a strong tone for the rising star’s career. The Rocket Classic also announced changes to its weekend schedule beginning in 2026.

On the LIV Golf circuit, Patrick Reed captured his first win on the Saudi-funded tour by outlasting three competitors in a four-man playoff at LIV Golf Dallas. It marks a milestone moment for the former Masters champion on the LIV stage.

In Europe, Adrien Saddier earned his first European Tour title in his 200th start, claiming victory at the Italian Open.

On the senior tour, Padraig Harrington collected his second U.S. Senior Open championship, narrowly defeating Stewart Cink in another competitive showdown.

Meanwhile, on the LPGA Tour, a South Korean team took the title at the Dow Championship, a team-format event. Their win prevented American Lexi Thompson from adding to her trophy collection.

In the amateur ranks, Carlos Astiazaran of Vanderbilt secured the North & South Amateur title in a playoff finish.

Minjee Lee’s KPMG Women’s PGA Championship Win Marks Her Third Major Title

June 26, 2025 by markmusicrecordshop

Minjee Lee holding the KPMG Women's PGA Championship trophy after winning the 2025 tournament at Fields Ranch East.

Minjee Lee’s KPMG Women’s PGA Championship win adds a third major trophy to her career, following victories at the 2021 Evian Championship and the 2022 U.S. Women’s Open. Lee secured the title with a score of 4-under par, finishing three strokes ahead of Auston Kim and Chanettee Wannasaen.

This marks a historic moment as Lee becomes the fourth Australian woman to win the Women’s PGA Championship. With this latest major, she is now just two titles away from completing the career Grand Slam — needing wins at the Women’s British Open and the Chevron Championship to join an elite group of champions.

One of the standout aspects of Lee’s performance was her exceptional putting. She attributed her success to a switch to a broomstick-style putter earlier in 2025, a decision that proved crucial throughout the tournament.

Lee earned $1.8 million from the event’s record-setting $12 million purse, tying the U.S. Women’s Open for the largest prize in women’s golf. The competition took place under demanding conditions at Fields Ranch East in Frisco, Texas, with high winds and intense heat testing players’ endurance.

After the win, Lee reflected on her personal journey, sharing that this title felt “most deserved” after experiencing self-doubt in recent years. The emotional victory was made even more special by the presence of her family, with her mother witnessing a major championship win in person for the first time.

St. Louis Blues Logo Evolution: A Legacy in Every Note

June 24, 2025 by markmusicrecordshop

Close-up of the updated 2025 St. Louis Blues Blue Note logo on a white jersey with blue and yellow stitching

The St. Louis Blues logo evolution tells a story of identity, tradition, and subtle reinvention. Since its founding in 1967, the franchise has preserved the essence of the “Blue Note” while adjusting its look to match the era.

🏒 1967–1978: The Original Blue Note

The inaugural logo featured a light blue musical note with a distinctive wing on the stem’s right side, designed to convey motion and energy. While often remembered for its simplicity, this version also appeared on a shield design that included two crossed swords, stars, and “StL” in white lettering.

🔄 1978–1985: Bulkier Note and Wordmark

In 1978, the logo underwent a significant update. The note’s form became slightly bulkier, and a circular layout introduced “ST. LOUIS” above and “BLUES” below the emblem, offering a more defined brand identity.

🔴 1985–1998: Introducing Red and Refinement

This era added a splash of red that would stay for over a decade. The “St. Louis” and “Blues” wordmarks were repositioned around the note, creating a more symmetrical and visually balanced branding.

🔵 1998–2009: Modernizing the Look

In 1998, the logo underwent a streamline. The red outline was dropped, the blue shade darkened, and the “ST. LOUIS” wordmark was removed. The musical note stood alone, accented by yellow, white, and dark blue outlines, creating a bold and modern feel.

✨ 2009–Present: Sharper, Cleaner, Recognizably Blues

A slight redesign in 2009 brightened the blue and gave the note sharper edges, resulting in the version still seen today. Based heavily on the 1998 mark, it preserved the winged note concept while enhancing clarity and contrast.

🎨 2025 Brand Evolution: A Nod to the Past with a Modern Twist

In 2025, the Blues revealed a refreshed Blue Note logo as part of a broader brand update. The latest version simplifies the color scheme to blue and yellow, thickens the lines, and subtly adjusts the note’s shape for visual impact.

The brand update was inspired by throwback jerseys, paying tribute to franchise history while embracing a modern aesthetic. Additional tertiary logos were also introduced, incorporating elements such as the Fleur-de-lis, the Gateway Arch, and the “STL” initials, thereby strengthening the connection to St. Louis and its musical heritage.
