Lottie Woad Scottish Open Win Marks Historic Professional Debut

July 28, 2025 by markmusicrecordshop

Lottie Woad made headlines in her professional debut by capturing the 2025 Scottish Open title at Dundonald Links, finishing three strokes clear of the field. The 21-year-old English golfer, who recently transitioned to the professional ranks after an exceptional amateur career, led from start to finish and closed with a clutch birdie on the 18th to secure a 21-under-par total.

Woad, who held the No. 1 amateur ranking for over 50 weeks, began the tournament with a 67 to tie for the first-round lead, followed by a standout second-round 65 to take control. Despite a late challenge from Hyo Joo Kim, who briefly caught up on the final day, Woad remained composed. She answered with back-to-back birdies on holes 13 and 14 to pull ahead and sealed the deal with another on 18.

Her Scottish Open victory caps a remarkable summer stretch. As an amateur, she won the KPMG Women’s Irish Open on the Ladies European Tour and finished T3 at the Evian Championship—an LPGA major—where she also set a new amateur scoring record. These performances qualified Woad for her LPGA Tour card through the LEAP program, granting her a two-year exemption on the LPGA Tour through 2027.
