Maelynn Kim claimed the Women’s Western Amateur title with a steady performance at Red Run Golf Club in Royal Oak, Michigan, during the tournament held July 14–19, 2025. The University of Houston junior defeated Elizabeth Rudisill, an incoming Vanderbilt freshman, with a 1-up victory in the final match.
Kim never trailed throughout the championship match and sealed the win with a birdie on the 18th hole. A highlight of her round included an eagle on the 9th, where she holed out from 83 yards.
Now in its 125th year, the Women’s Western Amateur is among the most historic events in women’s amateur golf, having been played continuously since 1901. The tournament is co-hosted by the Women’s Western Golf Association and the Western Golf Association and has served as a launchpad for players like Nancy Lopez, Cristie Kerr, and Stacy Lewis.
With this win, Kim earns an exemption into the 2025 U.S. Women’s Amateur at Bandon Dunes, further advancing her career among the top amateurs in the country.
